ELEVATOR MECHANIC - LEVEL 4/5 We are seeking a highly experienced Elevator Mechanic to join our Facilities and Infrastructure Engineering team at Starbase, TX. This role supports mission-critical operations by ensuring the reliable performance of advanced vertical transport systems, including high-rise, traction, and rack-and-pinion elevators. The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise, leadership in troubleshooting, and the ability to operate autonomously in a high-paced, safety-focused environment. RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on vertical transport systems, including high-rise traction elevators and rack-and-pinion lifts Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues using diagnostic tools and schematics Conduct scheduled inspections in compliance with ASME A17.1/CSA B44, state codes, and local AHJ regulations Lead elevator modernization projects and major repairs in coordination with facilities engineering and vendors Read and interpret technical drawings, control wiring diagrams, and OEM documentation Utilize CMMS platforms to document maintenance activities, inspections, and system health metrics Interface with internal engineering teams and external service providers to support uptime and system upgrades Train and mentor junior elevator personnel and provide safety briefings during high-risk work Support emergency and after-hours maintenance operations as required BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalency certificate 10+ years of experience as a licensed elevator mechanic with experience in: Traction elevator systems Rack-and-pinion elevators High-rise vertical transport installations Current state elevator mechanic license or certification PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Proficiency in interpreting schematics and control logic for elevator systems Strong understanding of mechanical systems, electrical wiring, and PLC-based elevator controls Experience maintaining elevators in aerospace, industrial, or mission-critical facilities Familiarity with rail alignment, car frame adjustments, and counterweight systems Advanced diagnostics using multimeters, laptops, and proprietary controller tools OSHA 30 certification and experience with confined space or elevated work Ability to coordinate shutdowns, safety lockout procedures, and inspections under tight schedules Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to operate independently in remote or rugged site conditions.
