Senior Software Engineer - Backend Performance
About the role
We are looking for a Senior Backend Performance Engineer with 5-8+ years of experience to own and optimize the hottest paths in our Data Studio platform — profiling bottlenecks, rewriting interpreted Python into C/C++/Cython/Rust, and applying GPU acceleration where it earns its keep. You'll join a small, elite Data Products team building patented technology that processes enterprise data for Fortune 100 customers like Nvidia, Delta, and Mars.
What will you be doing?
- Profile, benchmark, and identify bottlenecks across performance-critical pipeline paths
- Convert hot paths from interpreted Python into C, C++, Cython, or Rust for dramatic speedups
- Apply CUDA/GPU acceleration to pipeline execution where it delivers real gains
- Own the performance roadmap — analyze, discover, test, and tune independently, then present architecture recommendations to the team
- Engineer for parallelism, vectorization, memory management, and high-throughput data processing at scale
