CommodityAI is building modern software to automate the outdated, manual workflows that dominate the $25 trillion global commodity trading industry. Founded by a former sugar trader and backed by Y Combinator and leading investors, the company has quickly grown to $600K in revenue with just a two-person engineering team. The product streamlines high-friction processes like document validation, shipment coordination, and risk management—transforming how commodity traders and operators work. Operating out of San Francisco, the team is deeply focused on building an AI-native platform that replaces email and spreadsheets with scalable, intelligent tools.
As the Founding Engineer, you’ll be the first hire beyond the founding team and will play a central role in shaping both the product and the company. You'll work end-to-end on full-stack features, collaborating closely with the CEO and CTO to bring structure to ambiguous problems and build solutions that directly support customers. Expect deep ownership over the codebase and infrastructure, the opportunity to prototype and ship quickly, and the chance to work hands-on with cutting-edge AI tools. This is a highly autonomous, high-impact role for someone eager to help define the future of an industry from the ground up.
