Smartling is looking for a creative and passionate Junior Research Enablement Engineer based remotely in the United States to work on internal tools to support the efforts of our LanguageAI research team. You will be working on a multi-disciplinary team to produce and support highly-scalable services that deliver the best-in-class experiences for team members. You will also have the opportunity to learn and grow from the various disciplines by taking on data and machine learning tasks that deliver high-impact results for the company. You will be joining an existing team researching, developing, and maintaining machine learning functionality in Smartling's translation management application that allows our clients and professional translators to manage the localization process for their websites and documents in an agile fashion. This includes classical machine learning methodologies and NLP technologies through LLM-based technologies. Our Engineering Processes & Beliefs: TDD - Test Driven Development Continuous Deployment - multiple times daily SOA - Service Oriented Architecture and APIs Full test automation - we have no QA team DevOps is not a team, it is a culture You Will Architect, design, implement and maintain applications, notebooks, frameworks, scripts, and infrastructure components Work with data to perform, implement, and deploy various machine learning oriented services, frameworks, and scripts Conduct architecture and code reviews Design and implement testing strategies to maximize product quality Help conduct research with other members of
the team You Have Fluency in Python Experience with Java or Kotlin Fundamental or better understanding of probability and statistics Know your way around a relational database Familiarity with asynchronous patterns and messaging technologies Familiarity with Design Patterns and making scalable stable systems Understanding of distributed computing principles and algorithms Strong communication and documentation skills BS+ degree in computer science or equivalent experience A home office setup conducive for working remotely, and the ability to work effectively as a remote team member* Preferred but not required Experience with Data Science tasks Experience with Rust and other languages Experience with NoSQL databases and large data sets Experience with NLP techniques Experience with LLM fine-tuning and prompt engineering Multilingual You Are Enthusiastic.
