About the role
Designing the digital sentience is as much an engineering problem as it is a product problem. Our agent needs to remember, reason, and act across millions of simultaneous relationships, each with its own history, social context, and emotional dynamics. That requires technology that's yet to be invented.
We are looking for an engineer to work as part of our behavior and capabilities teams to invent memory systems, social graph reasoning, platform integrations, and internal training tooling. Over the next 12 months, this person will ship core infrastructure as part of a generational consumer social company.
Exceptional engineers are particularly characterized by:
- Owning ambiguous and complex problems autonomously and end-to-end
- Working fluidly across the entire stack thinking problem-first, not tech-first
- Being meticulous in their craft across various altitudes and sweating the details
- Collaborating with behavior and creative teams and shaping how our agent should feel like
- Building with inhuman urgency and work ethics
What we like to see
- Strong systems thinker. Most code-execution tasks will be automated away within the next year. We are excited about exceptional systems designers and software architects obsessed with using AI tools to scale themselves to extreme efficiency.
- Consumer product intuition. Great consumer products are the result of countless micro-decisions. We are unreasonably obsessed with getting these details right and love working with those who match our freak.
- Founder mentality. Our team is full of ex-founders, open-source contributors, and builders. We need engineers who can take autonomous ownership over ambiguous problems and see them through with little to no structure.
- Exposure to scaling. Experience designing systems from scratch and scaling them to millions of users. Has seen the growing pains and solved them.
