Technical Knowledge/Job Summary Read production schedule, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, and/or distributed Knows how to operate and troubleshoot the various types of equipment used in the shipyard Identify hazards, safe out equipment, and write safe work permits. Will be required to work aloft (on scaffold or on manlifts) and in confined spaces. On site training is provided. Job Proficiency Loads, unloads, moves, stacks and stages products and materials using a fork lift, pallet jack, clamp truck, cherry picker, crane, or other power equipment Positions forks, cherry picker, crane, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports load to designated area Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device Pulls and prepares product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code Perform daily inspections, maintenance, and re-fueling of all equipment Determine what, if any, parts or equipment need service beyond shipyard personnel capabilities Culture and Collaboration Follow all shipyard safety policies, including proper use of PPE, fire prevention, and confined space protocols.
