About the role
We are looking for a Physics Simulation Team Lead with 5+ years of experience to lead the development of our physics-based simulation capabilities. This person will be a player-coach, owning the physics simulation roadmap and managing complex, cross-functional programs from end-to-end. This is a critical role for someone who can blend deep technical expertise in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) with strong program management skills to transform complex engineering workflows into scalable, production-ready systems that power our core business.
What will you be doing?
- Act as the technical lead for the physics simulation sub-team, coordinating work across wildfire and future perils like tropical cyclones and floods.
- Own the end-to-end simulation pipeline, from coordinating with platform engineers and subject matter experts to working with the ML team to accelerate models.
- Dive deep into building and validating solvers, initially acting as a hands-on individual contributor to build out new engineering workflows from scratch.
- Partner with recruiting to build and scale the simulation team, evolving from a player-coach into a people leader.
- Collaborate across the Applied Science team and the broader company to communicate modeling decisions and tradeoffs to leadership and product teams.
