About
the role Experimental Design & Scientific Strategy : Design and lead microbiology experiments to support the development of our platform. Define methodologies, set scientific objectives, and ensure alignment with company goals. Data Interpretation & Tech Transfer : Analyze and synthesize experimental data into actionable insights. Translate lab results into robust protocols ready for industrial deployment, in collaboration with data scientists and hardware teams. Project Leadership & Cross-Team Coordination : Lead R&D initiatives involving multiple stakeholders (hardware, software, machine learning). Provide technical mentorship to junior scientists and technicians. Quality, Compliance & Traceability : Implement smart, scalable lab practices that balance rigor with agility. Ensure traceability and safety standards while continuously improving processes, tools, and documentation to support our growth. Scientific Communication & External Collaboration : Represent Spore Bio in scientific discussions with partners, clients, and regulatory bodies. Contribute to publications, patents, and conference presentations as relevant. About you Required
qualifications/ experience : We value curiosity, initiative, and a growth mindset — not every box needs to be ticked to apply. Academic Background: PhD or Master’s degree in microbiology, biotechnology, or a related discipline, with at least 3 years of hands-on R&D experience in an industrial or applied research setting. Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of bacterial culture techniques, microbiological assays, and contamination monitoring. Experience in food, pharma, or industrial biotech is a strong plus. Project Management: Proven ability to lead scientific projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, and deliver results under tight timelines. Analytical & Data Skills: Proficiency in analyzing complex datasets (Excel, Python, or R is a plus). Experience working with laboratory information systems (LIMS) and digital traceability tools. Strong Communication & Autonomy: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English. Energetic, proactive Capable of working independently and proactively in a fast-paced startup environment. We don’t expect you to know everything from day one.
