We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team! This is a full time onsite position at our Fremont, CA location. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will play an important role in the development and commercialization of technology and products that will accelerate our understanding of life, biology and disease and transform large industries. You will work as a part of Manufacturing Engineering Team supporting production on preparing, installing and configuring a variety of subassembly and system level components. How You’ll Contribute Drive collection and documentation of detailed specifications for factory End of Life (EOL) tests and Operational Qualification (OQ) inspection Own continuous improvement of existing products to end of product life cycle Own the cross-functional communication to support new product development, engineering test, manufacturing test, and manufacturing and contract manufacturing outsourcing Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis of production equipment and failed OQ Facilitate and participate in feasibility studies alongside development engineering to build the product validation and test
requirements and equipment to support manufacturing Follow closely and manage the steps from development to full production including calling for a design freeze, pre-production test and validation builds (pilot builds), lead cross-functional communication between development, procurement, manufacturing, quality, and field operations Develop and maintain project schedules for design freezes for Bill of Materials (BOM) release, long lead time orders and risk buys Evaluate new production runs to identify room for improvement of specifications, workmanship, and product design Be "first line of defense” for manufacturing issues and escalate through appropriate chains of communication to address them in a timely fashion Review designs to identify opportunities for improvement prior to release to production Review, create, and update documentation for high volume procurement such as drawings for cables, plastic parts (printed and injection molded), machined parts, sheet metal, and welding Identify missing or incomplete documentation and resolve discrepancies Include detail specifications to enable Installation Qualification (IQ) prior to releasing parts to factory floor Create, update, and maintain thorough work instructions to communicate and control manufacturing process Maintain visibility and coordination of components for field testing Support quality in First Article Inspection (FAI) Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM); Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Quality (DFQ) principles to optimize design and production Plan and execute change control implementation Understanding of test fixtures and system level integration, including Off-The-Shelf Input/Output (OTS I/O) versus In-house I/O, interfacing with firmware, software, and scripting;ability to set clear and qualified configurations for fixture and tool stability Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Abilities BS in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field 5+ years of experience taking products from a R&D environment to full scale capital equipment production in the 10’s to 100’s and beyond Proficiency in CAD software such as Solidworks and OnShape Experience working as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) design owner Excellent technical writing skills to generate clear, precise documentation such as manufacturing instruction/rework/deviation documents Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, and product development lifecycle Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) experience with Arena or equivalent for multi-level nested BOMs and part management of assemblies up to several thousand line items Self starter with a can-do attitude Experience with injection molding and manufacturing Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) Knowledge of In-Process Control (IPC) standards At Ultima Genomics, your base pay is one part of your total
compensation package. This role pays between $110,000 and $130,000, if performed in California, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills,
qualifications, experience, and location. Please note that the
compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include
bonus, equity, or
benefits. This role is also eligible for a competitive
