ABOUT THE ROLE: As an AI Tutor specialized in web design, you will contribute to xAI's mission by training and refining Grok to understand and generate high-quality web aesthetics, layouts, and user interfaces. Your work will improve Grok's ability to assist users in creating visually compelling and functional websites, fostering innovation in AI-driven design tools and enhancing user experiences across digital platforms. RESPONSIBILITIES: You will use proprietary software to provide labels, annotations, and inputs on projects involving web layouts, visual elements, and design principles. You must support the delivery of high-quality curated data that ensures aesthetically pleasing and functional outputs. In this effort, you will collaborate with technical staff to develop tasks that improve AI's ability to handle web design concepts and best practices. You’ll also work with technical staff to improve annotation tools for efficient workflows. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated high proficiency in Graphic Design, Web Development, Computer Science, or a related field. 1-2 years of experience in web design, with a demonstrated high taste for aesthetics and website creation. Strong portfolio showcasing web design projects, highlighting visual appeal, user experience, and innovative layouts. Proficiency in evaluating design elements, such as color theory, typography, responsiveness, and UI/UX standards. Strong ability to reference design tools, trends, and resources for accurate annotations and critiques. Strong communication, interpersonal, creative, and analytical skills. Commitment to developing AI that excels in web aesthetics and design simulation. PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Advanced experience in UI/UX design, front-end development, or roles at design agencies or technology companies. LOCATION AND OTHER EXPECTATIONS: Tutor roles may be offered as full-time, part-time, or contractor positions, depending on role needs and candidate fit. For contractor positions, hours will vary widely based on project scope and contractor availability, with no fixed commitments required. On average most projects may involve at least 10 hours per week to achieve deliverables effectively though this is not a fixed commitment and depends on the scope of work. Contractors have full flexibility to set their own hours and determine the exact amount of time needed to complete deliverables. Tutor roles may be performed remotely from any location worldwide, subject to legal eligibility, time-zone compatibility, and role specific needs. For US based candidates, please note we are unable to hire in the states of Wyoming and Illinois at this time. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship. For those who will be working from a personal device, your computer must be a Chromebook, Mac with MacOS 11.0 or later, or Windows 10 or later. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: US based candidates: $45/hour - $100/hour depending on factors including relevant experience, skills, education, geographic location, and qualifications.
