Senior Partnerships Manager

New York, United States
Full-time

About the role

What we're looking for?

We need someone with 4+ years of experience in business development or partnerships who has a proven track record of closing win-win commercial partnerships, ideally with Fortune 500 companies or as an early partnerships hire (employee #2–#15) at a seed or Series A startup in an operationally intense category like healthcare, logistics, edtech, or marketplaces. You should be comfortable doing scrappy, hands-on business development in the real economy, from cold calls to trucking and HVAC conferences, in a fast-paced, in-office, 60+ hour/week environment. You should also have a track record of turning employer commitments into real hires and measurable business outcomes. Bonus points if you've placed students or job seekers with employers through education or workforce programs, were a former founder, have consulting experience, or have a background in teaching, volunteering, or social work (e.g., Teach For America).

What you'll do:

  • Land new hiring partners by prospecting, pitching, and closing employers in high-demand trades (trucking, HVAC, diesel tech, and more) who commit to interviewing and hiring Emerge graduates, many of them coming out of incarceration
  • Own the employer relationship end to end, from first touch to signed commitment to the first student hired, before handing the partner off to account management
  • Work closely with the founding team and operations to grow the employer network needed to deliver on $50M in government line-item allocations across New York, Massachusetts, and California
  • Build and instrument the partnerships funnel, setting leading and lagging indicators, reporting on them weekly, and re-engaging partners the moment they go quiet
  • Negotiate commitments that hold (interview slots, hiring targets, onboarding support) and hold partners accountable during the pilot stage until students are interviewed, hired, and onboarded
  • Write and maintain the partnerships playbook, target-industry one-pagers, and clean CRM data so the whole team can run a partnership from first touch to placement
