New Business Operations Lead

New York, United States
Full-time

About the role

What we're looking for?

We need someone with at least 3 years of experience in business operations at an early-stage startup, ideally as a former founder of an operations-heavy company, a consultant, or one of the first 10–15 hires, who has taken new programs or business lines from 0 to 1. You should be comfortable working hands-on with students and getting in front of employers, whether that means cold calling, canvassing, or walking into a trucking or HVAC company's conference room. You should also have a track record of turning a first meeting into an employer partnership that keeps hiring. Bonus points if you've done direct service work like teaching (e.g., Teach For America), coaching, volunteering, or social work, if you've worked with trades employers, or if you've worked as a Palantir-style deployment strategist.

What you'll do:

  • Launch two new government-funded training programs, taking each one from R&D to its first enrolled students. This is our R&D arm for new pathways, funded by government contracts.
  • Own a new direct employment pathway that gets people coming out of incarceration into a job right away, and drive its results end to end.
  • Find, pitch, and close one or two employer partners per new program who will hire our graduates, then keep them hiring.
  • Work directly with a small group of students in each new program to learn what gets someone from enrollment to a first paycheck, and spot where the process breaks before it scales.
  • Write the playbook for each program so future operators can run it without you and engineers can turn it into product.
  • Build your own tools with Claude/Claude Code, no-code tools, and spreadsheets (campaigns, automations, dashboards). Track enrollment, completion, placement, and time to hire, and report weekly on what's working and what isn't.
