About the team Our finance team is responsible for shaping our understanding of how Stripe is performing as a business, as well as what our best opportunities are for continued growth. We’re looking for an experienced financial controller to join our International Accounting team. As a key part of our controllership team in Dublin, you will help us build our technical accounting and financial reporting processes, work with business partners, financial partners, external stakeholders and our engineers. You will help us develop best in class accounting processes and help track our progress within a fast-paced environment that’s growing globally. Role: International Accounting Lead What You’ll Do Responsibilities Financial Operations & Reporting Lead the Financial Close: Manage the end-to-end monthly close of US GAAP books, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. Manage Reporting Deliverables: Oversee the preparation and submission of comprehensive regulatory and financial reporting. Own the Statutory Audit Process: Lead financial statement preparation, audit support, and technical documentation, culminating in presentations to the Board of Directors. Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Proactively monitor and adapt to changes in global accounting and tax regulations to maintain strict compliance. Oversee & support preparation of direct and indirect tax returns. Leadership & Strategic Collaboration Develop the Team: Mentor, guide, and manage the professional progression of a high-performing controllership team. Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with Tax, Transfer Pricing, Treasury, Finance and Strategy, and Legal teams on diverse strategic projects. Act as a Business Partner: Develop a deep understanding of the Company’s transactions and contracts to properly advise cross-functional teams. Manage External Partners: Oversee and optimize our relationships with finance outsourcing vendors and auditors. Technical Accounting & Innovation Provide Technical Expertise: Maintain fluency in US GAAP and IFRS/FRS102, researching complex issues and producing clear technical accounting memos. Champion AI Adoption: Act as an innovation leader by evaluating, recommending, and implementing AI solutions to drive measurable process improvements across teams. Who You Are Minimum Requirements Professional Certification: Active ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent. Experience: 10+ years of progressive accounting or audit experience; Big 4, payments, financial services, or tech industry experience highly preferred. Technical Accounting: Demonstrated technical expertise and practical application of IFRS, FRS 102, and US GAAP. Audit & Tax Expertise: Proven experience managing large-scale statutory audits involving central and local teams, as well as overseeing tax filings. Systems Knowledge: Strong proficiency with enterprise accounting systems (Oracle or similar) highly preferred. Project Management: Demonstrated success in leading and delivering cross-functional initiatives. Adaptability & Drive: A proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment and is highly comfortable pivoting alongside changing business requirements. Analytical Rigor: Exceptional attention to detail combined with strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Collaboration: A team-oriented mindset with the ability to partner and communicate effectively across diverse internal teams. In-office expectations Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico, Bengaluru, India, and Dublin, Ireland work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible. Pay and benefits The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is €104,500 - €156,700. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process. Specific benefits and details about what compensation is included in the salary range listed above will vary depending on the applicant’s location and can be discussed in more detail during the interview process.
