We are looking for a Technical Recruiter with 5-8 years of experience to be the first dedicated talent hire at a fast-growing rare earth metals startup reshoring critical production to the U.S. You'll own recruiting across every department — from mechanical and process engineers to research scientists and plant operators — partnering directly with the founders to scale the team during a pivotal growth phase as Solcoa commissions its first facility.
What will you be doing?
Sourcing and running first-round interviews for all open roles across engineering, research, operations, and government relations
Managing the full recruiting cycle — from pipeline building through offer stage — moving candidates through in as little as 3 days
Setting up and improving recruiting processes, workflows, and onboarding practices as the company's founding talent hire
Partnering with founders and subject matter experts to deeply understand highly technical roles and calibrate on candidate quality
Building candidate pipelines for both immediate hires and upcoming scale-up needs as the facility moves to 24/7 operations
Key Requirements
Experience recruiting for hardware/technical roles — mechanical engineers, process engineers, research scientists, operators, or similar (not exclusively software)
Proven ability to grow teams at early-stage or high-growth startups; startup speed and scrappiness is a must
Full-cycle recruiting capability — sourcing, screening, interview coordination, and closing
Must be able to work on-site 5 days a week in Alameda, CA
Fast-moving, sharp, and adaptable — no corporate mindset; comfortable operating in a lean, output-driven environment
Solcoa Industries is building the next generation of American metalmaking, starting with rare earths — the metals that power all electrified motion. Every EV, fighter jet, wind turbine, MRI machine, and data center relies on rare earths, yet virtually all production of these critical metals has been shipped to China, where they're produced using incredibly destructive legacy processes that are illegal in the rest of the world.
Mission: To reshore critical metal production to the West with new, better, cleaner technologies — enabling the world to control its electrified future without relying on destructive legacy processes.
Culture: Solcoa is a lean, output-driven team where every person is essential. The environment is fast-paced, ambitious, and deeply technical, with everything from reactors to furnaces built in-house using their own fabrication shop. No one does busy work.
