About the role
Set and communicate the multi-year technical direction for a large-scale observability/telemetry platform, aligning your team's roadmap with Azure Data's reliability, scale, and cost objectives. Lead through other leaders and senior engineers — growing, coaching, and retaining a diverse team, and building the management and technical bench the organization relies on. Own the operational health of high-volume production services, fostering a durable live-site culture where reliability, quality, and customer trust are shared priorities. Advance the security and compliance posture of your services Drive cross-organization initiatives and difficult trade-offs, influencing partner teams and senior stakeholders to deliver outcomes that no single team could achieve alone. Cultivate an inclusive, engineering-driven environment where people do their best work, learn continuously, and adopt modern practices (including AI-assisted development). Embody our culture and values Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. Proficiency operating large-scale distributed services or data/telemetry pipelines in production Demonstrated experience leading live-site/reliability practices for high-availability cloud services Familiarity with cloud security and compliance programs Experience growing and developing engineering managers and senior/principal engineers Competence partnering across organizational boundaries to deliver shared platform outcomes Working knowledge of observability/monitoring domains (metrics, logs, tracing) is helpful
