About the role
What we're looking for:
We need a mid-to-senior level product designer with 3+ years of experience who has owned design end-to-end at a small company or startup. You should be comfortable working autonomously in a technical domain with complex data visualization needs, and have a track record of shipping production-quality product work. Bonus points if you have experience in biotech, developer tools, or scientific software.
What you'll do:
- Own the end-to-end product experience from ordering through sequencing results, raising the bar on every screen you touch
- Establish and maintain a design system for both UI components and genomic data visualizations
- Work directly with engineers and bioinformaticians to turn complex scientific workflows into intuitive software
- Conduct user research and gather customer feedback to inform design decisions without being told to
- Lead design for the sequencing results experience — the primary surface where 70,000+ scientists interact with their data
- Collaborate closely with product managers and in-house scientists to translate complex biological data into clear, usable interfaces
