Founding Enterprise Account Manager

Redwood City, United States
Full-time

About the role

What we're looking for

We need someone with 2+ years of experience in account management, customer success, or another post-sales role who has personally owned a renewal and expansion number across a book of large enterprise accounts (2,000+ employees). That book should be in the double digits, not just two or three accounts. You should be comfortable negotiating with senior stakeholders, holding executive-level and tough commercial conversations, and working in a fast-paced, in-person startup. We want to see a track record of growing accounts and closing renewals, with specific accounts, values, and results you can walk us through. Bonus points if you've worked with enterprises in call center-heavy industries such as healthcare, financial services, or airlines, have experience with usage-based or consumption-based pricing, have worked with AI, LLMs, or voice AI, or have a technical or computer science background.

What you'll do

  • Own the post-launch relationship with enterprise buyers and program owners across a book of existing accounts, from the first production call through renewal. This is a renewals-first role with no new logos for now.
  • Take ownership of net revenue retention: forecast, negotiate, and close renewals, and find the upsell inside each one.
  • Work closely with Account Executives, Customer Success Managers, and Customer Success Engineers to build on existing account relationships and take over renewals that Customer Success currently manages.
  • Use usage data and adoption dashboards to build the business cases customers need internally to expand: pilot to production, one use case to many, one department to the whole organization.
  • Run QBRs with executive buyers and help shape how this function works as the first Enterprise Account Manager, reporting directly to the COO.
  • Find blockers inside accounts and bring them back to Product and Engineering with the revenue impact attached, to improve retention and grow consumption.

What we look for in a candidate's background

  • Stable tenure: ideally 2+ years in each of the last two roles. Several recent roles under one year are a concern.
  • Mostly US-based experience.
  • Revenue numbers on the resume. Pure support, onboarding, or SMB/mid-market-only backgrounds aren't a fit.

Compensation

Base salary of $180K–$220K plus equity (4-year vest, 1-year cliff). A commission structure is still being finalized.

About Retell AI

Retell AI is using first principles to reimagine the call center with cutting-edge voice AI.

Thousands of companies now utilize Retell’s AI voice agents to handle sales, support, and logistics calls that once required large teams of human agents. Backed by Y Combinator, Alt Capital, and other leading investors, we have scaled to $80M ARR with a team of 40 people, up from $5M at the start of 2025.

Our vision for 2026 is to build a modern CX platform where entire contact centers are powered by AI. Instead of basic automation that needs constant human tuning, we’re creating intelligent AI “workers” that can act as frontline agents, QA analysts, and managers, continuously executing, monitoring, and improving customer interactions.

We’re growing quickly and looking for ambitious builders who want to tackle hard technical problems, move fast, and have real impact at one of the fastest-growing voice AI startups.

Let’s build the future together.
