About the role
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer with 8–12 years of experience to own the technical foundation of Supanote's fully agentic AI platform. This is the first senior engineering hire — you'll be the technical center of gravity, setting the architecture, enforcing code quality, and mentoring a strong existing team so the CTO can focus on the bigger picture. The sweet spot is someone with ~9–10 years of experience who has grown with a company from early-stage through meaningful scale.
What will you be doing?
- Own the codebase end-to-end — code reviews, architecture decisions, and enforcing engineering hygiene (incident rate, defect rate, proactive issue detection)
- Mentor and uplift junior engineers through high-quality code reviews and design documents
- Design and evolve the agentic AI platform architecture, simplifying complexity and keeping the system scalable
- Partner with the CTO and PM to define what's technically feasible and drive features from design to production
- Ship code — this is a hands-on IC role, not an architecture-only seat
Key Requirements
- 8–12 years of full-stack engineering experience (front-end leaning is fine, but must be genuinely full-stack — not skewed 6:2 either direction)
- Deep, production-grade TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and React experience — strong opinions required
- Has grown with a company over 4–5+ years, seen architecture break, and fixed it — startup trajectory preferred over pure Big Tech
- Proven track record as a technical lead or staff IC: set standards, drove projects end-to-end, mentored others
- High energy, collaborative, and ships to completion — side projects and intellectual curiosity are strong signals
