About the role
We are looking for a Director of Engineering with 8+ years of experience to come in as a hands-on technical leader and own the engineering function at a profitable, Series A fintech company building payroll infrastructure for the stablecoin economy. You'll ship production code daily, lead a team of four engineers, and work directly with the CEO to execute on a clearly defined product vision. CTO promotion track within six months. We want someone who has built and shipped products that move money, has early-stage startup experience, and is excited to take full ownership from day one.
What will you be doing?
- Writing production code daily — backend services, payment infrastructure, banking APIs, and payroll system integrations
- Leading and leveling up a team of four engineers through code review, pairing, and hands-on technical direction
- Making key technical decisions and executing on them quickly — build vs. buy, schema design, and shipping priorities
- Working closely with the Head of Product to execute on product strategy while staying flexible to shift priorities
- Building reliability foundations including regression suites, staging gates, alerting, and real postmortems on the payment path
