Corporate Restructuring Mid to Senior Level Associate

Skadden’s Corporate Restructuring team in New York is hiring outstanding lateral associates (class years 2021–2018) with proficiency in both in-court and out-of-court restructurings. This role is ideal for a restructuring associate who wants sustained responsibility on complex matters and who enjoys the unique blend of courtroom-driven urgency and high-stakes negotiated solutions.

What You’ll Do

You will work on a broad mix of sophisticated restructuring and special situations matters, including:

In-court restructurings (Chapter 11 and related proceedings)

• Motions and briefing support; hearing preparation
• Plan and disclosure statement workstreams
• Restructuring-related disputes and contested issues
• Distressed transaction execution through the bankruptcy process (including sale processes)

Out-of-court restructurings / liability management

• Negotiated restructurings and workouts
• Liability management transactions (e.g., exchange/tender and related processes)
• Covenant relief / amendment packages, recapitalizations, and contingency planning

Cross-disciplinary execution

• Close collaboration with finance, M&A, litigation, tax, and other specialists on distressed transactions and strategic alternatives (Skadden’s restructuring platform is known for integrating distressed transactional capability).
