About the role
Tabs is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our engineering team at a pivotal moment in our growth. We're past 0-to-1 and firmly in the 1-to-10 phase – the product works, the market fit is proven, and the challenge now is building systems and a team that can scale with serious momentum. You'll work closely with our CTO, Deepak, and VP of Engineering, Leo, as well as our Head of Product, Arjun, to shape both the technical direction and the culture of the engineering org. As a member of our early-stage startup, you'll have the opportunity to shape the direction of the company and make a meaningful impact on our success.
This is a senior individual contributor role. Roughly 80% of your time will be spent driving code and working directly with product – you'll own real problems end-to-end. The remaining 20% is about making the engineers around you better. We're not looking for someone who manages; we're looking for someone who leads by doing and isn't afraid to challenge decisions when they have a strong point of view.
What You'll Do
- Own and drive complex technical projects end-to-end, from architecture through implementation to production.
- Design and scale highly reliable, secure, and performant systems to support Tabs' AI-driven workflows.
- Partner closely with our CTO, VP of Engineering, and Head of Product to align engineering efforts with company priorities – and push back when you disagree.
- Contribute meaningfully to one or more of our seven engineering teams: AI/ML, billing & payments, commercial graph, ERP, revenue, front end, or platform. We're open on where you focus based on where your strengths and interests lie.
- Mentor and support other engineers, helping to raise the bar on technical excellence and best practices.
- Help build the culture and foundation of Tabs' engineering organisation – the kind of environment where senior engineers can still learn a lot.
