At Cerrion, we are building the future of AI-enabled manufacturing. Headquartered in Zurich and backed by Y Combinator and top Silicon Valley investors, we deploy video AI Agents that see what is happening on production floors, spot problems automatically, and intervene in real time to keep production running smoothly at global scale. Our technology is live in factories across 15+ countries, helping leading manufacturers in glass, beverage, food, CPG, building materials, and wood cut downtime by up to 50%. We are at an inflection point and scaling fast.
We are hiring a Field Deployment Engineer to own the physical installation and technical setup of Cerrion systems at customer factories across Europe. You will take over once a deal is closed, plan and drive the installation with the customer, and ensure all hardware is correctly installed and integrated so the project can be handed over to Customer Success for proof-of-value execution. In the near term you will execute installations yourself. As Cerrion scales, you will grow into managing subcontractors and field teams, owning the full installation lifecycle end-to-end.
This is an individual contributor role with high ownership, significant customer exposure, and at least 50% travel , primarily across DACH. This role is not a desk job. If you are most comfortable on a factory floor or in a server room rather than in a meeting room, this is the right environment for you.
Cerrion deployments combine a server and a network of up to 80 IP cameras per plan. Optional components include connectivity modules such as SIM routers or Starlink, loudspeakers, and PLC interfaces with production machines.
Deployments typically involve:
Pre-installation: Remote planning with the customer: aligning on timelines, site access, IT requirements, cable routes, mounting constraints, and responsibilities. In-person site surveys may be beneficial to improve the accuracy of installation planning.
On-site installation: Hands-on execution: pulling and placing low-voltage cabling, mounting cameras and hardware, configuring switches and connectivity, resolving blockers, coordinating between installers and customer teams, and validating the full system end-to-end.
Acceptance and handover: Confirming that all hardware is correctly installed, connected, and validated, then handing the project cleanly to Customer Success for AI deployment.
Factories vary widely in layout, access constraints, and operational maturity. You will need to work confidently in complex, imperfect industrial environments and solve problems independently when things do not go to plan, which they often will not.
Take full ownership of the installation and technical setup phase after deal close, driving projects from planning through a hardware-complete, deployment-ready state.
Planning & Customer Communication
Physical Installation
3 to 6 years hands-on experience with physical low-voltage installations, deployment, or delivery roles involving physical systems. You must have personally run cable and mounted hardware.
Strong technical judgment: Able to design and execute installations that are safe, reliable, and completed efficiently, finding the right solution without overengineering it. As the team grows, able to translate that judgment into precise instructions for installers and subcontractors.
Exposure to manufacturing or industrial shop floors , such as automation, electrical systems, machine vision, IIoT, robotics, or similar.
Basic but solid understanding of industrial networking , including IPs, switches, VLANs, and firewall coordination.
Comfort coordinating IT integration with customer IT teams.
Professional fluency in English. German is a strong advantage given our DACH customer base.
High willingness to travel across Europe, at least 50%, with multi-day on-site stints being the norm.
Ownership mindset: Proactive, structured, and accountable for outcomes, not just plans.
Solid troubleshooting ability, comfortable diagnosing cable faults, connectivity failures, and device configuration issues on-site without remote support.
Formal electrical or network cabling certification. Can be substituted by strong hands-on experience.
Experience in security system integration, CCTV/IP surveillance, building automation, or IIoT hardware deployment.
Exposure to PLC environments or machine interfaces.
Experience working with or supervising subcontractors or external field teams.
Additional European languages beyond English and German.
Installation completed on schedule and within the agreed scope.
Short time from hardware delivery to deployment readiness (>90% of cameras connected and correctly positioned for intended visual AI use case).
Clean handovers with minimal installation-related blockers during software deployment.
High customer satisfaction during the installation phase.
Real ownership from day one: You control one of the most critical phases of our solution lifecycle, turning signed deals into deployable systems.
Technical depth in a meaningful product: The hardware you install is the foundation of AI systems that measurably reduce downtime in manufacturing. Your work directly determines whether the product succeeds and our customer impact is realised.
Growth path. We expect this role to evolve into a team leadership position as we scale our installer network across Europe and globally.
Culture : We operate with flat hierarchies and a get‑things‑done mentality. You’ll work with ambitious colleagues from all over the world in a collaborative environment where the best idea wins.
Compensation & equity : Competitive salary, meaningful stock options, and benefits aligned with an early-stage company scaling fast.
Location : Modern office in the heart of Zurich / or work remotely from anywhere in Europe.
If you want to own the hardest part of deploying AI in the real world and thrive in complex, customer-facing industrial environments, we would love to meet you.
