Soma Capital is an early to late stage VC with $1B+ AUM and an investor in 30+ generational “unicorns” like OpenAI, Anthropic, Ramp, Cognition, Mercor, Deel, Kalshi, Rippling, the Bot Co, Stoke Space, among others. We invest in AI apps, infra, robotics, energy, space tech, and life sciences
The fund is led by Aneel Ranadive who works closely with his father Vivek Ranadive, who founded Tibco Software that later exited to Vista Equity for $4.3B. Vivek scaled Tibco to billions in revenue and was an early backer and mentor to Google, Yahoo, Salesforce, and eBay - advising Steve Jobs along the way. Tibco digitized Wall Street in the 90’s and powers 80% of Fortune 500 companies which gives Soma top executive (often CEO level) relationships with many of the biggest enterprises in the world to help with customer acquisition.
Soma also has unique government connections, for example Vivek traveled often with Obama to meet world leaders. Tibco is now owned by Vista, which has over 70 billion-dollar tech companies in their portfolio that Soma can also target for partnerships. The Ranadive family also owns the Sacramento Kings NBA team and has unparalleled connections to most top athletes and artists who also play at their arena.
