We are looking for a Staff Engineer with 8+ years of experience to set the technical direction for the entire company as the most senior individual contributor on the team. You'll operate across squads and systems, own architecture decisions that shape the product for years, and raise the engineering bar for everyone around you. This isn't just a building role – it's a defining role, where you'll partner directly with founders to translate ambiguous business goals into technical roadmaps. What you will be doing
- Setting technical direction across the full stack – identifying the highest-leverage problems and architecting solutions that span systems
- Driving complex, cross-cutting initiatives end-to-end: schema design, migrations, backfills, and safe rollouts across Prisma and MySQL
- Establishing and evolving engineering standards company-wide – system design reviews, incident response, observability, and reliability practices
- Multiplying the team by mentoring engineers, leading architectural reviews, and elevating the quality of work across the org
- Partnering directly with founders on product strategy, technical trade-offs, and build-vs-buy decisions that balance speed against maintainability
