About the role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with 5+ years of experience to be the first senior engineering hire at Fazeshift – shaping architecture, shipping end-to-end features, and setting the bar for engineering quality as the team scales. You'll have significant ownership over what gets built and how, collaborating directly with founders on product direction and technical trade-offs. This is a high-impact role in a high-stakes domain (fintech/AR automation) where correctness and uptime matter. What you will be doing
- Design and build full-stack features across the Next.js frontend and backend API layer
- Lead end-to-end schema design, migrations, and backfills across Prisma and MySQL – designing rollouts that are safe to deploy
- Set the bar for engineering practices through system design reviews, incident response, runbooks, and observability
- Mentor other engineers through code review and architectural guidance
- Collaborate directly with founders on product direction and technical trade-offs
