We are looking for a Data Engineer with 3–7 years of experience to join a lean, high-impact data team scaling infrastructure for a rapidly growing data company pointed at healthcare. You'll own the design and build of next-generation data pipelines and infrastructure that power both internal analytics and customer-facing products – working with data models that range from modern to decades-old legacy systems. This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape how data flows through a platform processing hundreds of millions in medical claims, alongside a team that values ownership, pace, and the ability to navigate ambiguity.
What you will be doing
Designing and building new data infrastructure from scratch – including pipelines, ETL processes, and data delivery systems that support both internal teams and external customers
Wrangling complex and messy customer data models, modernizing legacy systems (some from the 90s) into a unified, scalable platform
Scaling existing data infrastructure to handle rapidly growing enterprise customers with increasingly large and complex datasets
Collaborating with forward-deployed engineers, product, and operations teams to ensure data pipelines are reliable and performant
Contributing to data governance and building a robust data culture – ensuring data is trusted, accessible, and central to how the company measures impact
Candid Health is remaking the health insurance claims process with a transformative RCM (Revenue Cycle Management) automation platform custom-built for medical providers to end unnecessary human intervention. The company sits between provider groups and insurance companies to facilitate clean payments for everyday insurance claims — addressing a $280 billion per year industry that is fundamentally broken.
Founded in 2019, Candid Health started within the digital health space and has built a significant footprint supporting digital health providers on their insurance payments, serving as the back-end billing engine for them. The company has since expanded into the traditional healthcare market, with its primary growth story now oriented around enterprise ambulatory providers.
Mission & Culture
Candid's mission is to address the administrative burden of healthcare by automating the claims process and eliminating manual intervention. The company is product and engineering-led, deeply customer-driven, and operates with a builder's mindset — working with beta customers to build features, then deploying them broadly to expand their market.
The culture is defined by four core values they screen every candidate against: outcome orientation, introspection, grit and hustle, and intellect. Candid has more than 2.5x'd revenue, team size, and headcount every year, creating an environment of rapid growth and high expectations. They lean toward hiring from high-growth startups (Series A through E) and value people who can quantify their impact and move at pace.
Candid operates on a 4-day in-office schedule across their hub cities, with flexibility for employees with families. They are currently in a foundational stage of building out their go-to-market engine, having historically grown through founder-led organic sales — making it an exciting time to join as they invest heavily in marketing, sales, and commercial functions for the first time.
