About the role
We are looking for a Senior IT Engineer with 7+ years of experience to own IT across Plasmidsaurus's 10 global labs. Each lab runs like a mini data center, with GPU compute clusters and hundreds of robots. We want a hands-on tinkerer from a high-growth startup who has built physical sites before, prefers custom network stacks to managed dashboards, and wants to grow into leading the IT team as we scale.
What will you be doing?
- Build out new labs from the ground up, with about 5 site buildouts planned for next year: buying networking hardware, connecting devices, and configuring the network
- Run and expand our custom networking stack (pfSense and MikroTik), using automated provisioning with Terraform and Ansible, and support heavy data flow between labs
- Own core IT: Google Workspace, Rippling, onboarding and offboarding, laptop and device management, and access permissions (RBAC)
- Lead security and compliance work, including SOC 2 (Vanta/Drata), endpoint security, pen tests, and phishing simulations
- Report directly to Rishub, then build and lead the IT team as we hire more people
Key Requirements
- 7+ years in IT, including hands-on experience building out physical sites, offices, or labs at a company with a physical product (not pure SaaS or consulting)
- Hands-on experience with custom network infrastructure (MikroTik, pfSense/OPNsense, or UniFi) rather than managed dashboards like Meraki
- Most of your career spent at high-growth startups (Series A–D), with steady tenure (about 2–4 years per role)
- Basic scripting in Python and Bash. A home lab or hobby projects are a big plus
- A strong communicator who pushes back comfortably and wants to move into management
