Senior / Staff Software Engineer, Product (Full Stack)
About the role
About Argon
At Argon, we’re on a mission to transform how life-changing therapies are brought to patients. We’re building the AI operating-system for the biopharma companies of the future where humans and AIs work alongside one another to handle complex research, writing, and coordination workflows.
We’re honored to enable the next generation of scientists and pharma companies to bring life saving therapies to market faster and more efficiently.
This role is right for you if you’re excited by the cutting edge product challenges that modern AI systems have surfaced. AI systems of the future will look and feel inherently different than previous software systems, and this role will shape AI agents and products in Life Sciences.
We value kindness, intensity, direct communication, intellectual honesty, and grit. Join us if you want to be productive, ship, and help build Argon AI.
We are an in-person company with offices in NYC. For non-NYC residents, we are happy to help cover moving and other related expenses.
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for a talented Senior / Staff Software Engineer, Product to join our team. In this role, you will build delightful AI products for the life sciences, including orchestration for distributed agentic systems to execute on multi step tasks and intuitive UIs for interacting with AI-native infrastructure.
- Own systems end-to-end. Design, build, and operate distributed services that power our AI agents, retrieval, and workflow orchestration.
- Work closely with the rest of the team to deeply understand workflows, develop user-journeys, and build an intuition around user problems and hypotheses for solving those needs.
- Think deeply about the future of human and AI interaction and how AI will behave and feel in professional settings.
- Build on top of the Argon platform using TypeScript, React component libraries, and a AI-native backend to bring designs and product vision to life.
- Iterate quickly on frontend and create tight iteration loops by collecting signals on what is working and what isn’t across the product.
- Conduct thorough code reviews, raise the quality bar, and establish taste/standards/best practices across testing, style, and documentation.
- Mentor junior engineers, pair program, run design walkthroughs, and help others level up.
About you
- Have 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including leading projects from design to production.
- Fullstack experience. You are familiar with our stack (React, TypeScript, NodeJS, PostgreSQL and Python)
- Have designed and operated distributed systems with asynchronous workflows, concurrency, and eventual consistency.
- Are fluent with Kubernetes and AWS primitives (SQS/SNS, S3, IAM, VPC).
- Care deeply about code quality, maintainability, and developer ergonomics; you set standards and hold the line through code reviews and tooling.
- Have product instincts and empathy for users; you balance shipping fast with building the right abstractions.
- Have experience or is interested in working with AI native systems, orchestrating concurrent LLM streams, and prompt engineering.
About Argon AI, Inc.
Argon AI is a platform where biopharma and life sciences professionals can execute complex and data driven workflows using natural language. We help professionals get thorough answers to questions about clinical trials, existing treatments, healthcare landscape, and the competitive market in minutes rather than months.
Prior to starting Argon, Samy was responsible for Flatiron Health’s (Roche) first data analytics project which eventually led to the start of the Flatiron Services business unit. There, he saw first-hand the heavily manual process that biopharma companies struggle through to get the insights they need to drive forward their drug development programs. He also helped close over $6M+ in ARR and is an expert in enterprise pharma sales.
Cyrus previously led engineering teams and built 0 to 1 across pre-seed and unicorn startups, managed mission-critical trade generation systems at Bridgewater, and held AI advisory roles at various startups. Cyrus has a duel degree in EE and CS from USC.
Breakthroughs in AI present an opportunity to reinvent biopharma and life science workflows to reduce the time and cost of bringing treatments to patients where delays in bringing a drug to market can cost a pharma company $3M / day.
