We are looking for a Founding Product Designer with 2+ years of experience to own the full design surface of a first-of-its-kind cognitive fitness tracker. You'll be the first dedicated design hire at Soma, working directly with our neuroscientist founder to shape what gets built — not just how it looks. This is a rare opportunity to define the design language for an entirely new ambient product category at the intersection of consumer health, neurotech, and voice AI. We need someone who thinks in systems, obsesses over engagement loops, and can translate complex scientific data into beautiful, consumer-friendly experiences.
What will you be doing?
We a neurotechnology company building the world's first software brain-computer interface. Our cognitive fitness tracker leverages voice as a biosignal to continuously measure cognitive changes: think Strava for your brain.
Founded by Jiali Zhang, a neuroscientist with a PhD from Oxford who previously decoded memories from neural data, Soma sits at the unique intersection of consumer health, neurotech, and voice AI: three of the hottest categories in technology today. The platform surfaces trends and insights on mental clarity, cognitive load, stress, and more, all through a purely software-based approach that requires no hardware devices.
Soma's mission is simple and ambitious: to make brain health accessible, measurable, and actionable.
We are backed by investors who backed Oura, Canva, Coinbase, and SpaceX at similar stages. Soma is a first mover in this space, building proprietary voice biomarker technology that detects cognitive and neurological changes from speech patterns.
The team is small, deeply technical, and design-forward: currently four people including the founder, operating out of their new office at Levi's Plaza near the Embarcadero in San Francisco.
