You'll own the look, feel, and usability of every product agave ships — building the design system from scratch and shaping how hundreds of construction companies interact with their most critical financial software.
What will you be doing?
Build agave's design system from zero — tokens, components, patterns, and documentation — so 2–6 new products launching this year feel like one cohesive tool
Own end-to-end product design for data-dense interfaces: invoices, vendor management, GL reconciliation, sync states, and AP automation workflows
Join customer calls with controllers, AP managers, and project accountants to deeply understand workflows and translate pain points into product improvements
Partner directly with cofounders, PMs, and engineers on product strategy — not just pixels, but what to build and why
Set the design bar and culture for the company as the first design hire, establishing tooling, processes, and quality standards
Key Requirements
Portfolio of shipped B2B product design with real users — no concept work or marketing-only sites
Strong experience designing data-dense, workflow-heavy interfaces (tables, filters, dashboards, reconciliation flows)
Built or meaningfully contributed to a design system for a multi-product platform
Clear, concise communicator who can articulate design rationale and tradeoffs to engineers and leadership
Must work in-person 5 days/week in San Francisco
We're building the financial ops platform for construction, a $12T global industry run by software built 20-40 years ago, much of it on-prem with no APIs and no documentation.
We spent 3 years building the rails to read and write across those systems, and we use them to deploy AI for invoicing, expenses, compliance, billing, and more.
We have 500+ customers and have been profitable & cashflow positive for over two years.
We're backed by Accel and Y Combinator, with investors from Procore, Autodesk, and Plaid. Our three co-founders have worked together for 12+ years, across Graphiq (acquired by Amazon in 2017) and Amazon.
